Greg Kelley has been providing a variety of services to private clients, as well as museums and other furniture- and art-related institutions since 2003.
Founder Greg Kelley has extensive knowledge in furniture history and experience in all aspects of furniture conservation and restoration. His credentials include:
- Professional Member of the Canadian Association of Professional Conservators with a specialization in Furniture
- M.A. in Art History-University of Toronto
- Studying furniture conservation and restoration with Bruce Luckhurst-The Little Surrenden Workshops in Kent, UK
- Accreditation in antique furniture conservation and restoration by the City and Guilds of London Institute
- Apprenticeship at Hatfield’s—London’s oldest restoration house
- Serving as a restorer for the London antique dealer Godson & Coles , and representing them at The Grosvenor House Art & Antiques Fair from 2002 to 2005
- Education in the art of carving—West Dean College, West Surrey, UK
- Studying European marquetry techniques with Yannick Chastang—American Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic Works (AIC) workshop hosted at New York University’s Conservation Center and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
Greg has developed and taught furniture history courses at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies, and has served as a guest lecturer at the university. He also authored an article for the Royal Ontario Museum’s magazine, Rotunda, (Winter 2006/2007), on his conservation of a satinwood marquetry piano by Christopher Fuhrlohg and Frederick Beck, dated circa 1777.
